Women are driving like never before

In 2018, Saudi Arabia granted women the freedom to drive. A momentous step that has opened the door to unprecedented freedom for women who have long been subjected to oppressive restrictions.  Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the country's de facto leader, approved the policy, along with lifting many other limitations on women.

As per the Saudi authorities, a lot of driving licenses have been alloted to women which was a moment of growth and enlightenment for the country as a whole. Followed by this, females based driving institutions were inaugurated  and countless women have uploaded joyful images of themselves while keeping their licenses in their hands. Although this is a basic necessity and a right to citizens to drive freely. Having this right in a country where it was banned for women will introduce a new era with a powerful road presence of women.

As a result of it, automobile companies started making advertising campaigns in which they targeted women to motivate them for driving. On the other hand, analysts predicted that the removal of the ban will revolutionize the country's automobile sector.

According to the Saudi Gazette, at least 70,000 women have obtained their driving permits. Seven driving schools were established in response to the growing number of female drivers in March 2019.

With her appointment as CEO of General Motors in 2014, Mary Barra became the very first woman to run a major car manufacturer. Along with Barra, a few other women have risen to positions of power in the automotives industry.

Bertha Benz is unquestionably a main influence and a founder in the history of women in the automobile industry. It was his wife Bertha, not Carl Benz, who assured the triumph of the automobile — she performed the first practical border drive in a vehicle in August 1888. So, what did she bring with her? Her boys, as well as a healthy dose of bravery and self-assurance. Let's take a step back. Bertha Benz took the initiative, jumped behind the wheel, and raced the automobile 66 miles (106 kilometers) from Mannheim to Pforzheim. This ride laid the foundation of the company Mercedes Benz.
